One of the toughest things about getting financial value out of Twitter is spotting the important Tweets. Our new Activity Alerts feature, released today, identifies those Tweets that are getting a high level of interest across Twitter, and highlights them in your feed.
For every Tweet you receive we monitor retweets and favourites in real time, and compare both the velocity and the influence of the re-Tweeters against the norms for that keyword or account. So when an important news story breaks, we typically spot it and highlight it in your feed within minutes or even seconds.
This is especially powerful when following companies. Most financial services tweets get little activity, but when a real story breaks it rapidly gets retweeted and highlighted as potentially being of interest.
We’ll be building on this feature throughout January, bringing you further ways to filter and order your Tweets based on relevance rather than just timeline, and configurable popups based on activity levels to ensure you don’t miss breaking news.
